Hey Artists: This is What Hollywood Thinks of You

So have you ever found yourself watching a crappy romantic comedy/TV show/whatever wherein one character is an artist. God forbid--an artist?? That is the worst. Dating an artist means having to go see shows like this:

Manifesto-ish Unveils New Video Game Art Museum

Manifesto-ish will unveil artist in residence Jon Gourley's Video Game Art Museum via a live virtual opening

Thursday 2/20/14, 7-10PM est.

To access the opening, go to www.manifesto-ish.com at the proper day and time.
What is the Video Game Art Museum? The Video Game Art Museum (VGAM) is constructed with art objects appropriated from the backgrounds of video games. In their original context, these "works" function as proxies, or simulations, of art. By recontextualizing these simulations into a virtual gallery, VGAM will playfully refocus attention onto the works themselves, explore the intersection of art and simulation, and satirize recent institutional forays into the subject of video games and art (see the Smithsonian's The Art of Video Games and Google Art Project).

Who is Artist in Residence Jon Gourley: Jon Gourley is originally from Des Moines, IA. He received a BS/BA from University of Iowa and an MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. He has exhibited at the Des Moines Art Center, Southern Exposure, AC Institute, and Queens Nails gallery. His work primarily investigates failed communication, its poetics, and the ensuing tragicomedies.
